NCHU Develops Novel IoT-Based Medical Imaging Security Published in IEEE IoT Journal

The NCHU research team has published a paper, "An IoT-Based Electronic Health Protection Mechanism with AMBTC Compressed Images," in the IEEE Internet of Things Journal. This research introduces a novel electronic health protection mechanism that enhances medical images' security and transmission efficiency by embedding sensitive patient information within the images and employing Absolute Moment Block Truncation Coding (AMBTC) compression. This approach optimally balances compression ratio and image quality.

Telemedicine has increased the demand for secure and efficient medical image transmission and storage. Traditional methods are vulnerable to cyberattacks, posing a risk to patient privacy. The team proposed a mechanism that embeds sensitive patient information within medical images to address this and utilizes AMBTC compression for efficient data transfer. This enhances the security of electronic health systems and facilitates the development of telemedicine and the sharing of medical image data.
