Taiwan-France Collaboration Advances Research in Cybersecurity and AI, Leading Technological Innovation

National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and France signed a Science and Technology Cooperation Convention (STC) in November 2023, establishing bilateral cooperation in six key areas: (1) Semiconductors and Quantum; (2) Health; (3) Ocean; (4)Digital, Cybersecurity And Artificial Intelligence;  (5)Green Industry and Energy, Decarbonization; (6)Space. The agreement facilitates bilateral scientific exchange through regularly hosted Taiwan-France technology workshops.

The Bureau Français de Taipei (BFT) and NSTC jointly organized the Taiwan-France Joint Workshop on Cybersecurity, AI, and Digital Technology on November 4-5, with support from the TACC Program Office and Professor Tsungnan Lin's team from the Cybersecurity Center at National Taiwan University. The workshop brought together 14 leading experts andscholars from both countries to explore crucial research topics. The discussions covered cutting-edge fields, including malware detection and defense, cryptography, disinformation and anti-fraud measures, frugal and trustworthy AI, AI in healthcare, and generative AI. The workshop also extended into interdisciplinary dialogues encompassing technical, social science, and legal perspectives, demonstrating the integration of technology and humanities.

The workshop provided a direct platform for academic exchange between Taiwanese and French scholars, fostering international research collaboration. Through this opportunity, experts and scholars established closer connections and advanced bilateral cooperation in technological fields. Through this collaboration, both sides seek to make meaningful contributions to the global development of AI and cybersecurity technologies.
