2023 TWN-NICT Cybersecurity Workshop enhances global cybersecurity research collaboration
The TACC Project Office under the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), Taiwan Information Security Center (TWISC), and the National Institute of Cyber Security (NICS) jointly organized the "2023 TWN-NICT Cybersecurity Workshop" at the Howard Civil Service International House from December 4th to December 5th. This annual event, known as the TWISC/NICT Joint Workshop, resumed this year for the first time since the end of the pandemic, marking a collaborative effort between TACC and NICS.
The 2023 TWN-NICT Cybersecurity Workshop featured esteemed experts from the Cybersecurity Laboratory, NICT from Japan, including Director Dr. Daisuke Inoue, Associate Director Dr. Takeshi Takahashi, Distinguished Researcher Koji Nakao, and Researcher Dr. Han Chansu and dozens of experts and scholars from the TACC research project teams, including representatives from National Sun Yat-sen University, Academia Sinica, National Taipei University of Technology, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Taiwan University, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and researchers from NICS also participated.
The workshop covered various research topics, for instance, AI-native cybersecurity, zero trust architecture, software vulnerabilities such as Android applications, darknet traffic analysis, federated machine learning, and explainable AI. Participants shared the latest research findings and engaged in discussions. Additionally, the NICT Cybersecurity Laboratory team and the Cybersecurity Center of National Taiwan University initiated international collaborative research projects. They also plan to submit the preliminary research results to top-tier international journals or conferences.
Also, the TACC project office hopes to establish an international cybersecurity cooperation platform through partnerships with leading research teams. This initiative aims not only to expand Taiwan's global research capabilities in cybersecurity but also to boost the prominence of advanced research in Taiwan's cybersecurity technology driven by this project.
